PlebLab’s SXSW roots go back to SATSx in March 2022, when our first Bitcoin hackathon brought roughly 30 plus developers to the Commons in Austin, and the write ups from that weekend captured the real signal: teams building, weird ideas getting tested fast, and a wide frontier in Bitcoin and Lightning still open for builders to claim.

AI Startup Rodeo is that same energy, updated for this moment. AI is moving from model hype to product pressure, and more teams are realizing the customer is often another system, not a human waiting on a pricing page, which means the winners will be the founders who build clean loops from tool call to payment to result.

That is why the AI and Lightning conversation matters right now. As we wrote in Pulse, last year, machine native products need payments that behave like the internet: fast, programmatic, reliable, and simple enough to live inside automated loops. In that world, Lightning starts to look less like a niche and more like an advantage because it fits the flow from call to payment to result without adding unnecessary ceremony.

Austin is the right city for this because the talent density is here, the curiosity is here, and during SXSW the collision surface is already built for us. We are not throwing another talk fest like years past. We are building a room where serious builders, developers and founders can find clarity, meet collaborators in five minutes, and leave with momentum that lasts longer than the week.

AI Startup Rodeo during SXSW turns Austin into a magnet for ideas, and we’d rather turn that energy into shipped product. For two days, we’re pulling builders, founders, and operators into the same room to demo what’s real, swap notes on what’s working, and leave with sharper conviction than we came in with. Less “panel brain,” more “prototype on the screen.”

Bitcoin Builders Club Recent workshops to check out!

Fresh drop from Bitcoin Builders Club on YouTube:

The latest releases feature Eddie Hernández (BBC #6) and Praveen Perera (BBC #7), two builder sessions straight out of the Austin room where BBC brings together devs, hackers, and founders to demo, share ideas, and pressure test what they’re actually working on.

The Eddie session centers on practical ways to start building with Claude Code in 2026, while the Praveen session digs into Cove and wallet UX topics like passkey + PRF cloud backup, security assumptions, and product tradeoffs. If you want the real builder signal and not just meetup culture chatter, these are worth watching.

“So this is Cove some people call it the boomer on-chain wallet…its really a simple to use intuitive onchain wallet that is yes simple but not limited, thats the idea! ”

- Praveen Perera from BBC #7

What’s next: We won’t have a Bitcoin Builders Club in March because of SXSW, and we’re also skipping April because of the conference in Vegas. We may still be in the area in Vegas for a few other builder events, so stay tuned. In the meantime, subscribe for May since that’s the next Bitcoin Builders Club we have planned and we also might do something special April.

New Drops this month on PlebTV!

Fresh drops on PlebTV this month: We just released two strong lanes for Bitcoin builders, and both are live now on PlebTV, built for builders looking to become founders who want to move with more clarity and less guesswork.

First is the Ventac: Startup legal education series, a practical legal stack for founders covering the legal environment of business, working with lawyers, business entities, directors and officers, contracts, raising capital, and employment law so you can avoid expensive mistakes early.

Second is Startup School: Foundation module run that helps lock in the core of your Bitcoin company with Bitcoin Startup 101, Clarifying Your Bitcoin Vision & Mission, and Building a Bitcoin Native Narrative now live on PlebTV. If you are building in Bitcoin and want stronger fundamentals, cleaner decisions, and clarity, this is the kind of content worth watching before you learn the hard way.

“PlebLab partnered with Ventac because founders need this early. Legal basics shape how you build, how you raise, and how you protect the company. We wanted builders to have real guidance up front so they can stay focused, move with confidence, and avoid expensive mistakes.”

- Car, Cofounder and CEO of PlebLab

Startup School Summer Edition 2 is taking applications starting now!

PlebLab Startup School Summer Edition 2 is officially taking applications starting now, and if you are a Bitcoin builder who is ready to become a founder, this is the room.

We built Startup School as a hybrid, builder first sprint to help teams move from idea to traction with real structure: weekly build rhythm, accountability, workshops, founder support, and practical pressure to ship instead of overthinking.

It is Bitcoin only on purpose, because Bitcoin companies need stronger foundations early, from product and ownership clarity to revenue thinking and pitch readiness, and the whole program is designed to help builders lock that in while they are still moving fast.

This cycle also continues the pipeline we are building out of AI Startup Rodeo and the broader PlebLab ecosystem in Austin, where the goal is not just education but momentum, collaboration, and real companies getting sharper over the summer on the way to Startup Day in August.

PlebLab’s mission has always been to back builders with a community accelerator environment in Austin, and Startup School is one of the clearest expressions of that work. Join us this summer and apply.
